Frequently Asked Questions

Below you'll find a few of our most commonly asked questions.

If your question is not answered here, please email us: info@lse.co.uk.

Q: Does the fantasy share game use live prices? / The prices appear to be wrong!

A: The game uses what we call 'derived prices'. This means that the prices used in the game are slightly adjusted live prices. The prices you can expect to find will likely be a couple of ticks above or below the live share price.

Q: What shares can be traded in the fantasy share game?

A: All shares that appear on both the 'London Stock Exchange' and trade in GBX (pence).

Q: Can I place a buy/sell, stop or limit order out of hours?

A: Unfortunately no. We do however plan to allow players to do this at some point in the future.

Q: What are stops and limits?

A: Stops and limits are a way of setting up automatic trades to buy or sell when a share reaches a certain price.

Q: What do the 'At Limit' and 'Stop' options mean on the trading screen?

A: Please the see the four example usages below.

Buy Stop

The price you want to buy at must be HIGHER than the current ASK price.
When the share's ASK price rises to the price that you specify, the game will attempt to execute your buy order.

This option can be useful to buy in on a rising share.

Sell Stop

The price you want to sell at must be LOWER than the current BID price.
When the share's BID price falls to the price that you specify, the game will attempt to execute your sell order.

This option can be useful to sell out of a falling share.

Buy Limit

The price you want to buy at must be LOWER than the current ASK price.
When the share's ASK price falls to the price that you specify, the game will attempt to execute your buy order.

This option can be useful to buy into a share that has fallen to your ideal buy-in price.

Sell Limit

The price you want to sell at must be HIGHER than the current BID price.
When the share's BID price rises to the price that you specify, the game will attempt to execute your sell order.

This option can be useful to cash in your profits once the share price rises to a certain point.

Q: Are there any prizes for winning?

A: Only in the Monthly Prize League game:
1st: £150
2nd: £100
3rd: £50

Q: Why do I have to register for the prize game?

A: If you win, we will need your address to send you your cheque. It's also to help us enforce the Prize Game terms and conditions by allowing only one registration per household, to make the game fair.

Q: If I win can I request my prize be sent to a different address from the one I registered with?

A: No. You must enter your correct address when registering for the game. If your address changes, please email us.

Q: I have lost all my money, can I restart/start again?

A: No, this would be unfair to the other players. If the game you are in restarts at a specific interval, you will have to wait until then.

Q: I want to report a problem or leave feedback, who do I contact?

A: Please email us: info@lse.co.uk.
